Really good video! I plan to get into digital at some point, but right now I draw traditionally. Before watching this video I've been doing a similar thing with my reference studies where I take a picture of my drawing from directly above, then import the picture into my computer and do the same thing with turning the opacity to 50% and placing it over my reference. Then I use a mouse to (shakily) do the same tracing/note taking techniques you describe here. Then I make the changes without tracing on my original copy (which I can only do if I'm using pencil and not link), and compare again. My big takeaways for myself are a) doing this method with masters studies, not just reference studies (how did i never consider this??), and b) doing the copy blind without reference after and applying the same techniques. Genuinely cant believe I never considered this since I literally did active recall studying all through high school and college. Awesome video, thank you for this technique!

I actually started drawing like 4 months ago. I always drew my favourite characters like Kuromi Serika. Then I drew Takanashi Hoshino because she is cute and for me she had the easiest hair to draw. Later I combined them both and made my oc. Since then I basicly try to find my own way to draw something that is confy for me. This Blind Drawing video is probably very similar how I drew on paper. I might even start digital soon!

I did partially that kind of learning already with traditional art :o Usually it is more difficult and stressful when you have to erase a detailed part xD But you also want much more, not to make the same mistake again and again :) It is like Dark Souls (and I love it!) xD

I really enjoyed your video, there are many things that are true, but what you said at minute 2:46 I feel is not good advice, if someone is a beginner, they should "learn the rules of the game", that is to say draw well something close to realistic or realistic and then start a drawing style. What I want to get to is that I know many artists who started with anime, and currently in what we study (digital animation) is something that should not be a foundation of your skills, anime is a style, not a foundation to start drawing. pd: You have a new sub and I already gave you a like ;D

Great job, I always noticed that when learning something, if I'm not feeling challenged, it doesn't seem to stick. I.e. just reading something feeling bored, you're bound to forget it pretty fast. So active recall, making it more challenging and actively trying to remember things makes too much sense.
